Food Service: Department Heads |
These ladies are our Food Service Department Heads. They are the cornerstone to our operation. They are instrumental in the planning, creating, preparing, cooking, and serving of over 1700 delicious meals in a sanitary, healthy environment EVERY DAY! Last year, our food service department faced its greatest challenge ever with the loss of 5 out of 6 department heads. Given that situation, it would have been understandable to see quality, service, cleanliness, and sanitation standards begin to be compromised. But, these fine professionals would not, and most importantly, did not let that happen. Today, our food service department
is seeing its greatest participation and is serving more meals than
we have ever served before. That success is due to these ladies
commitment to excellence.

DMS: Jeff Kitterman |
Jeff Kitterman is the Media Specialist at Douglas Middle School. Mr. Kitterman exemplifies all three of Douglas Middle School’s character goals; respect, resourcefulness and responsibility. He made the arduous move several years ago from his position as a Band Teacher to the role of a Media Specialist. This transition was made in anticipation of his total hearing loss. Mr. Kitterman currently possesses two Master’s Degrees; one in Music Education and the other in Library Science. Mr. Kitterman’s quick sense of humor and commitment to his chosen profession made him an exemplary Band Teacher and now an invaluable Media Specialist. He was responsible for creating the first school website in the district over three years ago. Under his guidance we have updated our library collection and developed a Guided Reading library. His commitment to integrating technology into the curriculum is evident in the support he provides to our middle school staff. Finally, Mr. Kitterman continues to teach at least two periods of Web Design/Digital Imagining each day. Mr. Kitterman’s resourcefulness, professionalism, sense of humor, courage and unending determination make him a respected role model for the students and staff at Douglas Middle School. Each day, having Jeff as our inspiration, helps to make all of us better educators and people.

DPS: Janet George | ||
Janet has taught kindergarten, developmental kindergarten, and Special Education. She has sponsored cheerleading, and continues to assist with scorebooks and scoreboards at local athletic events. Janet has also been a guest speaker at the University of Wyoming. Janet has been responsible for educating young children in CCSD#1 since 1972. Most people in this board room recognize her, know her, have been taught by her or have a child who has attended her class. Many who have taught for the duration that Janet has have faded and lost their passion for teaching. Janet has not. Although her knowledge base of curriculum, procedures, classroom management, and overall pedagogy is second to few, she still lights up with excitement when she discovers something new that can be applied to her class. Her love of teaching has not dwindled and her drive to perform at a superior level has never been in doubt. The students who have passed through her classroom have experienced a rich learning environment and a caring, knowledgeable teacher. Those fortunate enough to teach with her have experienced an true professional and master teacher to emulate. Thank you for your undaunted dedication to this profession and the difference you've made in the lives of the children of Douglas.
