The Douglas Rec
Center (located adjacent to
the
High School) offers a pool, multiple gyms,
racquetball,
a weight room, and more.
Access is free to the public.
Technology abounds
in CCSD#1. We offer
student
computers in labs, classrooms, and
mobile units.
We have a student computer for
every 2.1 students.
Every teacher and nearly
all other staff has their
own computer, with nearly
half our teachers now
using notebooks
to work anytime, anywhere.
The District
sponsors several Staff Wellness
activities
every year, with incentives and prizes.
This fall we did
a walk through historical
downtown Douglas.

district currently has around 1,650 students. We
have four in-town schools and four rural schools. |

for teachers:
$35,600.00 (B.S.) and $42,630.00 (M.S.). Currently, our salary schedule
increases horizontally $1,750.00 & vertically $575.00 per step. |

We are
technology enriched with student-to-computer ratio of
about 2.1 to 1. |

We
have a New Teacher
Induction program that prepares new teachers to work in their
classrooms and in CCSD#1. Each
participant receives a $500.00 stipend. |

provides ample professional development opportunities including
financial assistance and district payback for staff members
obtaining a masters degree. |

All of
our schools are
staffed with instructional facilitators and mentor teachers. |
